Gas safety
In the UK it is a legal requirement that anyone working on gas appliances, including boilers, is registered with Gas Safe Register. Our guides only describe simple checks that manufacturers expect homeowners to carry out, such as reading the pressure gauge, using the filling loop, pressing reset or thawing a frozen condensate pipe. You must never remove the boiler casing or attempt to repair gas, electrical or flue components yourself.
If you smell gas or suspect a carbon monoxide leak, leave the property and call the National Gas Emergency Service on 0800 111 999 (0800 002 001 in Northern Ireland).
Accuracy and model differences
We research our content from manufacturer documentation and take care to keep it accurate and up to date. However, fault codes and their meanings can differ between models, production years and software versions, and manufacturers can change them without notice. We do not guarantee that any page is complete, correct or current for your particular boiler. Always check your boiler's own manual, and ask a Gas Safe registered engineer if you are unsure. Prices we mention are typical ranges for guidance, not quotes.
